And we’re back.
Go, visit the page for Part One of this challenge.
The task here is to hop into the comments, check out the (incomplete) stories there, find one you like, and continue it by writing part two of that story.
You have another 1000 words to do this.
Make sure to identify which story you are continuing and who the writer was.
Do not continue your own story.
Do not end this story — you’re writing the second of four total parts.
You can partake in round two even if you didn’t participate in round one.
You must finish your second entry by noon, EST, next Friday (the 20th).
THAT IS ALL.
Now get to work, weirdos.
caszbrewster says:
Seriously going to cry if no one picks up the stories I want to see finished. But, I can’t do all of them. Go Word Nerds, Go!
February 13, 2015 — 2:21 PM
ElctrcRngr says:
Hey, I can relate, but which stories are those? Are we allowed to do more than one? I’ve already posted Part Two to wildbilbo’s amazing opening section
February 17, 2015 — 2:11 AM
ElctrcRngr says:
And now I’ve posted Part Two to “I’ll Take Mondays.” The link is posted with your link to Part One. I hope you like it.

caszbrewster says:
I crossposted your post on my blog. Hopefully my readers take a tour. Thanks again. I love the humor, and I’m happy that you picked up on Killian’s Attitude right from the get go. Do you have a bio somewhere I can link on my blog?
February 20, 2015 — 1:45 PM
caszbrewster says:
I love the English Slang. DisposAll! What a hoot! Thanks for picking it up. http://www.casondrabrewster.com/?p=2100
February 20, 2015 — 2:06 PM
caszbrewster says:
I totally dig it. My views in the UK keep going up and I’m trying to figure out why?
February 20, 2015 — 3:58 PM
ElctrcRngr says:
Actually, I’m American. I live on the Central Coast of California. I don’t have a bio posted on my WordPress site, so there’s really no way you could know that. I’ll have to remedy that. DisposAll used to be a brand name for a brand of garbage disposal when I was a kid. I’m 53 now, so they probably aren’t around anymore. I’m so pleased you liked my addition to your story. Writing humor is a bit intimidating for me, as my sense of humor is such that I’m never sure when I’m going to cross a line that I shouldn’t. Working in hospitals seems to have given me degree of gallows humor as a defense mechanism.

Well I’ve narrowed it down to three…. we shall see what the weekend brings. hopefully an army of clones so I can do all of them.

Okay… I’ve been working on the one which caught my eye all week! Well, okay not all week… but I have been tweaking the one I like all week. 😀
Yes, I know the first part has a white background, but that’s how it’s copied over … at least we can see it. 😛
Enjoy!

A great job, Angela! The “binary” decision ahead of her, hide or ask for help, turned out to be not quite so simple. You left plenty of room for someone to play with next week if they pick it up, I’m hoping that someone will take the challenge.

Well hello there!
I loved the Marina character in Carolyn Astfalk’s story so I continued with that one – thanks Carolyn! The title of Sanctified also helped me tap into the sense of mystery that Carolyn started in Part One.

I picked up lisboeta1’s romance because I’m a sucker and I just couldn’t help myself. She didn’t have a title so I’m simply calling it Love Story and here is the link to part two. I guess it could be coffee shop romance, but that’s equally cliched. 🙂

Both parts one and two here are very well written, in my opinion. The story line is very engaging, even to someone who doesn’t normally read much fantasy, such as myself. Nicely done!

Thanks man! Your comment made my day 🙂

Hard work continuing someone else’s story, but fun 🙂
February 17, 2015 — 8:03 AM
ElctrcRngr says:
Wow! Very dark, and very effective. I feel you and Angela both did a great job of looking at how power inequality, even more than economic inequality, is dividing and deteriorating our society at an alarming rate. Yes, I realize most of the world suffers from these problems a lot worse than America, and I’m lucky to have the leisure to sit on my ass and think about things like this, but it’s still a looming issue that we somehow need to address, soon. And, hey, lucky for y’all, I have the answers! Vote for me in the upcoming election!
February 17, 2015 — 11:44 AM
ElctrcRngr says:
KT, I apologize for overlooking the fact that you are Australian. I don’t know anything about the political climate there, or if your country suffers from the epidemic corruption that the US does. If not, hats off to Australia, we could learn a lot from y’all.
February 17, 2015 — 11:48 AM
wildbilbo says:
No need to apologise and thanks for the kind words.
Australia, like all countries, is populated and lead by people, meaning it has its share of corruption and bad politics – the recent Independent Commission Against Corruption that’s been held in Australia has shown exactly how deep some of it goes.
Down under is not in a position to moralise (although we frequently do).

Here’s a little place-holder for those stories that don’t get picked up for part two.
If your part one is still missing a continuation and no-one’s yet dropped you a note to say they’re working on it, let us know.
If you’ve already written a part two and reckon you can manage another, reply and volunteer.

Thanks for taking the time to extend my story! You really took it in an direction I wasn’t expecting, and I find the emotional introspection you chose to have Sophia undergo was pretty interesting. February 20, 2015 — 12:23 PM
poorerdick says:
Please! That would be awesome!
If I didn’t make it clear, I’ll be posting a link to your content as well. I think I prefaced my story with a note saying that’s what I intended to do… but if I didn’t, or it wasn’t clear, I’m sorry!
February 20, 2015 — 12:50 PM
poorerdick says:
Oh, I completely understand! I have the same problem. Which is why I always have my SO do a pass over of anything I intend to post online before posting it.
Also, life happens! No need to apologize!

To anyone following this thread, I’ve updated my blog post (above) to include Alice’s content. I believe she’ll be updating her blog as well to include my content.
Sharing is fun.

Thanks for taking the time to extend the story Alice and I worked on! I’m curious as to what the apocalyptic vision is ultimately representing. If we’re lucky, someone will pickup where you left off, and we can find out.
I did notice that from third person to first person. Before I repost it on my blog, I’ll want to do some minor editing to change it back to third person. Is that ok with you?

I continued Helen Espinosa’s “The Beach House.” It had a creepy horror movie vibe that looked fun.

Very well done, I really like how you showed her internal debate and then had the reveal which opened up a whole new course of action! I hope someone next week can tell us a bit more of what’s going on.

I continued CJ’s murder mystery, picking up on her part one hint to switch to the killer’s POV. But is she the true mastermind?

Awesome! I really love where you took it with Mailie and what she was getting up to! I hadn’t thought of her as being so calculating about her life and persona – I like this new angle… ^_^ hopefully someone carries it on because now I want to know who’s on the end of the phone!

Glad you liked it. The fun part of this challenge is not having to figure out how to resolve the plot.

I followed up on Christopher’s piece, “The Sheriff, The Priest, and the Killer.” I’ve subtitled my section of it “Night in the Canyon,” and you can enjoy my continuation of Christopher’s dark & weird western right here:

Great job! You handled the old west speaking mannerisms much better than I did. Plus, you were right, I made the counting mistake lol. I think I intended the priest to speak to the sheriff directly, saying that HE had five men, but I got it all confused in my head. bonus point for catching it lol

OK, it’s a Western, so as they say, “Pardon me, while I WHIP this out!” Part Three in the works.

I haven’t seen a link anywhere for a part three to this. You have both done a great job, and I would hate to see this just fade out. I know there isn’t much time left, but I’m going to try to put together a part 3. Thanks for the inspiration!

Also, thinking Storm Fear is a good guide for part III.
February 23, 2015 — 12:25 PM
poorerdick says:
Oh, that is a nice choice. It links up with both the beast and the cabin quite excellently – if that’s where you’ll be taking your story. No spoilers please!
(A link for those not familiar with Robert Frost’s ‘Storm Fear’: http://www.poetry-archive.com/f/storm_fear.html)
I wait with bated breath to see what you come up with. Given your setup with “I’ll Take Monday” and what you did with ‘Spoiled Bacon’, I suspect it will be quite good. (n.n)

Wow – I can certainly say that I did not see that coming at all. I hope someone picks it up and runs with it next week. There are still so many unanswered questions: who are the women? and what’s up with their necklaces? what are the beasts? why is there a castle? and why is it moving?
I’ll update my blog with your addition on Friday.
February 23, 2015 — 8:43 PM

Wasteland by Angela Cavanaugh, extended by Kristian Thoroughgood:
