The rules are simple:
Look through the 200-word entries from last week.
Pick one.
Add another 200 words to the story.
(Easiest way forward is to copy the chosen 200 words to your own blog, then add the next 200. Don’t forget to link to your now 400-word story in the comments. Someone may want to continue the tale next week, for part three.)
You do not need to have participated in the first round to participate in this one.
Do not choose your own 200 words, because, c’mon.
Do not finish the story. This is a five-part fiction experiment: we’ll end the year with several 1000-word stories, each built out of 200-word chunks by you guys. This is a collaborative game. It is Whisper Down the Lane. It is Telephone. It should be very interesting by the end. One hopes.
You’ve got one week.
Due by Friday, December 6th, noon EST.
Join the narrative chain.

Previously untitled, I dubbed this one “Exile”: a troubled past blemished with death, exiled passengers, and something odd happening below deck…
[…] Chuck Wendig has set up a flash of writing a story 200 words at a time. Last week I wrote my first 200 words. This week I had to continue someone’s else story. I went with my fellow blogger Urban Spaceman. Check out there to see the beginning of this story. […]

I continued this for part three
http://benteight.tumblr.com/post/69758310108/part-three-flash-fiction-challenge
I like where you took this. It’s sounding surprisingly cohesive after three takes, all things considered. Nice!
I like where you took this and your writing style, Kirsten. I’m actually surprised at how the story still seems fairly cohesive after three swipes at it. I hope someone picks it up for part 4.
Thank you and, I’m sad, I don’t see it in round 4…
That’s unacceptable!

A bit late, but here it is.

To make the final day easier….anyone who hasn’t had their first 200 word entry picked up….reply and post the link here. It may be easier for other writers to get the rest of the first round picked up. I guess it’s OK to do more than one….Lets get everyone into the third round.
I haven’t had mine picked out yet…

the link to my first 200 words.
I gave yours a go.
http://graymatter-coms.blogspot.com/2013/12/cooperative-flash-fiction-part-iithe.html
I wanted something to do while I drank my beer, so…meh.
Ooooh! Thank you so much! I appreciate it! When you got talking about the guns I got a shiver down my spine… I love gun talk (label me weird, but I do. It goes back to when I was a teenager and my brother took me to one of his friend’s houses and I saw his gun collection up close laying out on the table. He was cleaning it, readying it to hand in to the government for the cash-for-guns scheme here in Australia… I knew what each weapon did and yet had never had any training. That memory still creeps out my brother – he still doesn’t like recalling it. But I think it’s something of a good memory for me as I knew I’d never see anything like it again).
Thank you again. 😀
Ely I picked up yours. I didn’t see it picked up elsewhere. Thanks for picking up Mozette’s. I’ve added to four so far…trying to ensure eberyone continues. Hope thats alright.
I call dibs on this one!
Awesome! Glad you liked it.
Mine is still languishing….
Listening Post

Well I took a shot at it….toughest yet. Great writing Jeremy…ooof where to go with it? hope it’s ok. just click on my name and scroll down. cheers Hank
hpetterson, on behalf of all penmonkeys partaking in this challenge I hereby dub you our team leader. Thanks for the extra effort you’ve put in to include everyone!
That’s too kind…it’s unfortunately addictive. I love adding to these great starts and hope I’m not diluting the talent level. I do wish there was a better format to keep track of all these great stories for the next round. The ones I’ve grabbed onto are on my home page scroll down and continue the adventure……heavens I see a Man-e-quinn pole dancing by her /his self…gotta run there’s one last story that’s grabbed my attention. cheers all.
It looks like some entries were also picked up and had the second parts linked in Round 1 but not here in Round 2.
I don’t think anyone picked this up yet:
http://joseedeangelis.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/chuck-wendigs-flash-fiction-challenge-part-2/
If anyone’s interested, have fun.
I’m out in the vines for a couple hours pruning for the winter dormancy. I’ll entertain how to continue this really incredible concept. Hope you don’t mind it from the point of view of a guy. But I love and agree with the concept. Cheers Hank
I meant to post this below on Smoph’s listing….it’s only at the first 200 words. I am such a dinosaur technologically.
Not at all! Can’t wait to read where a guy takes this. Have fun!
I’m going to pick this one up for Part 3 Challenge.
Here is Part 3…hope it is to both you and Kirsten Bruce’s liking.

I really like where you took this. Great continuation. Hope we have a taker for the third round; it’s building to something pretty cool!
I took up part 3. Here you go.
Part 3 by A. Carina Barry
Antonia snapped back into the grim, dingy grey reality of her, no HIS prison cell. His mouth tasted dry and metallic, as if he didn’t take enough care of his real body while in the body of his Quin one. In the joint they called them Quins like twin or harlequin, the latter for the insane comic book character as much as an entertainer jumping at someone else’s whims.
Antonia, or more like Antoine, got up and felt his pants sag with filth. He really wasn’t taking care of his body while he was checked out, and apparently no one else was either. Of course not, no need to care about prisoners. There were more than a few judges and attorneys that cruised the nudie bars. Antoine was saving up their names and faces for the day he could get back a little of his own by revealing their dirty little secrets to the world. Oh yes, throw him in here for being a working-stiff looking to let off a little steam, but absolve yourselves of all responsibility. Money made the difference. Well, not for much longer. Antoine savored the image of them pleading and begging as they got their turn in the clink and in the Quins.
LOVE where this one is going!!!
Thanks for taking it up Angela! It’s getting interesting.
Still pending if you want to use it – http://dragonfyreediting.blogspot.com/2013/11/water.html.
Looks incredible…mind if I take it and run
Continuation of Doreen Queens story. click on my name for the continuation.
To make things challenging I choose an entry randomly, but I’m fortunate to have found such a fun and creative excerpt, which makes excellent use of mood and structure to build tension and create suspense. The excerpt was written by rccross at http://apocryptica.wordpress.com/2013/11/25/390/
The story takes place at a deserted dock in the dead of night. There’s a man with a gun. He meets a malevolent creature who wants something from him. What could it be? And what do they want from each other?
The excerpt that contains the original and my addition can be found at: http://jeremiahboydstun.com/2013/12/06/another-200-words-12613/
Hope someone adds!
I’ll take it. Loved your addition to the story and hope that I can continue the dark tone with which the story has progressed.
Okay…here is the continuation to boydstun215’s challenge…hope this works and someone continues the tale. Thank you!!!!
