Last week’s challenge: “WTF Is This Thing?“
This week, simple enough: I’m going to give you twenty different potential conflict prompts to dominate your flash fiction story. Roll a d20 or find a random number generator and boom, you’ve got your conflict. (Or, if you see one you really like, hey, just pick it. ESCHEW CHAOS.)
You can interpret these prompts as you see fit.
(Any genre will do.)
You then write ~1000 words of fiction.
You post it on your online space. Link back here.
Due by next Friday, the 20th, noon EST.
Here, then, is your list:
- Killed, returned to life to claim vengeance
- Betrayal by a lover
- Monster invasion!
- Lost in a strange place
- Owe money to some very bad people
- The bomb is counting down!
- The apocalypse has arrived
- A threatened home
- A spiteful child
- A crippling disease with a rare cure
- Stolen identity!
- Man becomes monster
- Machines are taking over
- Dark secrets, exposed
- A difficult funeral
- Friend becomes enemy
- A tragedy of one’s own making
- Redemption for past sins
- Nemesis attacks!
- Power corrupts!

I rolled an 8 (a spiteful child) and it got dark again, to the point where it was creeping me out a bit writing it. I’ll take that as a good thing! Again a bit long – again, comments and constructive criticisms are welcome. “Flash Flood”

I went to a random number generator which gave me #1 (back from the dead to get revenge) and then went to a random title generator and took the first one offered. The result?
“A Secret Mystery Without Mozart” Sometimes revenge is just plain fun.
