– Blackbirds is now a Kindle deal. Not just for today, but, in fact, for the month of July. It’s $1.99 right now, in fact. If you love me, you’ll tell people. If you hate me, you will rage-stitch a sampler of my face, fling it into the nearest urinal, and micturate angrily upon it. Which is your call. Your destiny is yours, pal. As Miriam herself is wont to declare: what fate wants, fate gets.
– I would also be remiss if I didn’t then go to note: if you like it, you can then pick up the sequels, Mockingbird and The Cormorant. (The book order, for those who don’t know, is: Blackbirds, then Mockingbird, then The Cormorant.) The fourth book, Thunderbird, is in editing as we speak. I also got a couple drafts on the cover, so we should have a final one to reveal soon. Then I’ll write the fifth book (tentatively titled The Raptor & The Wren) this fall and the sixth book next year (that one tentatively titled Vultures). YAY MORE MIRIAM BLACK.
– For those asking, the cover artist for these books is Adam Doyle!
– And hey! I’ve gone and uploaded a brand new book trailer. (Spoiler warning: it’s the same trailer as before, but with the new covers. Trailer done by the awesome dude that is Alan Stewart. The growly voice is by fellow author and bad-ass Dan O’Shea.)
– My SDCC schedule is as follows:
Friday, 11AM: Star Wars publishing panel, 7AB
Friday, 12:30PM: Signing AFTERMATH posters at Del Rey SW booth
Friday, 2:30PM: Signing ZEROES at Harper Collins #1029
Saturday, 10:30AM: Signing AFTERMATH posters at Del Rey SW booth
Saturday, 12 noon: Sci-Fi / Fantasy Family Feud, 7AB (and holy shit what a line-up: Ernie Cline, Leigh Bardugo, Pat Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, Naomi Novik, Austin Grossman, and, er, me?!)
Saturday 1:30PM: Sci-Fi / Fantasy Family Feud signing, AA09
– When I get back, it’s The Harvest launch at Let’s Play Books in Emmaus, PA. (7/14, 7pm)
– Just after that I’m guest of honor alongside Seanan McGuire at Camp NECon!

Excellent book. Genius series. I’ve read the series twice thus far. Looking forward to the 4th, 5th, and 6th books, as well as your upcoming projects. Keep slinging the words.

I went to buy it but it’s full price over on amazon.co.uk. Any chance of extending the dealio to us ‘limeys?’

Sweet Jeebus, this title was coming up shortly on my TBR list, so this is quite fortuitous timing! OMW to purchase and share the excellent news! *w00t*

I have done my bibliophilic duty and enabled my friends to the Blackbirds phenomenon. 😀 Are you excited about it becoming a series?

Thanks Chuck, just bought it. I wish I’d kept all of the Miriam Black books that I’d stupidly used for book credit at the local used book store but I was a fiction junkie in desperate need of a fix.

It was $1.99 on Amazon Canada. The only problem was once I started, I couldn’t stop. I have to stay off Amazon or my Kindle will explode one day.

Speaking of more Miriam Black, I created a TVTropes page for the book series a while back. I think of all the users on that site, I’m probably the only one who’s ever touched this page, so if anybody else wants to edit or add to it, it would be greatly appreciated.
Can’t wait for the television series, and of course more books!

Figures it’d be literally the day after I bought it, ha. I’m happy with it though, don’t need a refund or anything. It’s fun to see an awesome author getting launched, seeing your blog and your books has made me want to try again at writing.

Just bought the new ebook! Was glad to see it didn’t overwrite the first copy. Can’t wait to dive into Miriam’s world again. Any chance to get posters of the covers, sans text?

Already own it (and LOVED it, thanks muchly) but just had to go check the price since these things continue to piss me off. (I live in Sweden.) Yeah, I’d absolutely say that 11.99 is a fair price for awesomeness gotten but holy crap that is a lot more than 1.99. Not your fault and nothing you have much of a say in, I know, but I just want to NOT feel like a second class reader dangit.
July 6, 2015 — 4:25 AM
Hanna says:
Went and looked again, and now it’s 1.99 even for me. Whee! No idea what happened there, but just. Ya know. Happy! Yay! Was indeed so happy I bought it again. (See how easy I am to please? Why don’t people-who-decide-these-things do it more often?)
Now, to reread it on my Kobo or my Kindle, hm… 🙂
