I believe the book is called (translated): THRUSHES: THE GIFT
And if you want to see the Polish cover for MOCKINGBIRD:
Or should I say, THRUSHES, BOOK #2: DEATH MESSENGER?
Here are photos from the book launch — I don’t know exactly what’s happening in these photos. But people are dressed up in Reaper cloaks. And some dude is falling over into a stack of books (is he faking death?). But it’s awesome. Now I aspire to have a book launch like this here!
Anyway! Kinda cool. Thought I’d share.
Off to write more in The Cormorant!

I should also add that they’re doing a comic book contest — draw four pages from BLACKBIRDS and, I dunno, win a prize? Something?

I have to say, it must be quite a thrill for a self-described nerd such as you to have a Polish cover for your work that is…distinctively Polish! Those wacky eastern europeans. I hope they like Miriam as much as I did.

I’m both German and Polish in terms of heritage so it’s cool to have BLACKBIRDS go to both countries, now.

Oh goodness! That is awesome! attacks in a book store – yeah I could see myself going rabid for say the last copy of something I want. Oh those covers are creepy!~ I definitely like the US edition Cover better. I like illustrated covers more so than photography of models that’s tweaked you know? It allows my imagination so much more room. I don’t like to be influenced. Plus I love it when an artists original work is commissioned for a book cover. It makes me squee in delight thinking maybe they read the book and were inspired to do it a certain way.
PS – Caroline Lambe just told me you’d be at BEA – Sat 1pm signing. Beware I will be in attendance! *reminds herself hug tackling Chuck is not a good way to introduce one’s self*

I admit that I’m more fond of the original cover, but I do very much adore the Polish cover, too. The German cover actually just uses the Joey Hi-Fi cover from the US/UK edition.

Wren Roberts (@gardsmyg) says:
I like how the cover calls back to the English cover while still being it’s own distinct, Polish-y thing. I’m actually impressed at how much like a bird they got her hair to mimic, without looking like that old meme. Very cool.

Great covers. Very arresting imagery and obvious cover art connection to a series. Very well done.
Do you have any contact info for the cover artist? Would love to know more about his/her other cover work.

I’m not gonna lie, I like that cover better than the original. She just looks so…pissed. Definitely captures the character of Miriam Black.

Petr Dolejší says:
It’s more THRUSHES: THE TOUCH OF DESTINY.The cover is fine but they should license the original one as it is the one of the best covers I have ever seen. I can imagine it as poster on my wall. I’m glad you decided to work with the same author on the cover of The Blue Blazes.

I hope Poland has enough birds to keep you in business through The Cormorant. Creepy Black Water Bird would be a cumbersome title.

I really think those “birds” dressed in black cloaks are trying to evoke .. you know … blackbirds … perched on the bookshelves, etc.
Still very cool though.
