You have given us opening lines.<\/p>\n

You have given us closing lines.<\/p>\n

Now it’s time to pick a batch and write some stories.<\/p>\n

The job is easy enough: choose (randomly if you like) a title, an opening line, a closing line, and then write a story with… well, do I need to explain it? Use the title, the opening line, the closing line. C’MON PEOPLE JEEZ.<\/p>\n

Length is — well, flash fiction is usually ~1000 words, but let’s forego any kind of length here and say, “Just write the damn story.”<\/p>\n

    2. The pale pink rabbit, some child\u2019s lost toy, blinked at him from the kitchen chair.<\/li>\n
    3. \u201cI told you this was a bad idea!\u201d he shouted.<\/li>\n
    4. Three days without sleep was the least of my worries.<\/li>\n
    5. Some people don\u2019t follow direction very well.<\/li>\n
    6. Martin spread the folders out on the table, \u201cThese two.\u201d<\/li>\n
    7. The odd man remained silent, forcing a small, copper box into my hands.<\/li>\n
    8. The bodies were bobbing on the sea, and a raft drifted behind.<\/li>\n
    9. Deep inside the twisting wood, there is a house, in a gully.<\/li>\n
    10. No one had ever bothered to tell her about this part.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Closing Line<\/h2>\n

      1. Silence blanketed the meadow.<\/li>\n
      2. We huddled low in the arroyo as wind wailed across the weeping sands.<\/li>\n
      3. She spread her wings and stepped off the cliff.<\/li>\n
      4. They would never know what she had done.<\/li>\n
      5. And that, my son, is how I learned to wrestle alligators.<\/li>\n
      6. And though the light was still blinking in the distance, never again could it harm her.<\/li>\n
      7. She plucked a hair from the severed head, and threaded her needle.<\/li>\n
      8. The children formed a circle, lifted their heads, and watched as the body disappeared into the sky.<\/li>\n
      9. The smoke was blue and grey and smelled like a promise.<\/li>\n
