{"id":31248,"date":"2017-08-02T12:52:42","date_gmt":"2017-08-02T16:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/terribleminds.com\/ramble\/?p=31248"},"modified":"2017-08-02T12:52:42","modified_gmt":"2017-08-02T16:52:42","slug":"in-which-my-technology-punches-me-in-the-crotch-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/terribleminds.com\/ramble\/2017\/08\/02\/in-which-my-technology-punches-me-in-the-crotch-region\/","title":{"rendered":"In Which My Technology Punches Me In The Crotch Region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WELL HELLO EVERYONE.<\/p>\n<p>I HAVE RETURNED FROM THE WILDS OF THE TECHPOCALYPSE.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what happened:<\/p>\n<p>I got the one-two punch of:<\/p>\n<p>a) my website stopped loading for me (still for you, just not for me)<\/p>\n<p>b) my computer started to, in slow-motion, shit the bed &#8212; it would slow down and freeze and be wildly inconsistent. It was like watching someone choke on a hoagie through frosted glass.<\/p>\n<p>SUPER ANNOYING.<\/p>\n<p>(Less annoying but considerably weirder &#8212; Sam Sykes and I did that slasher thing last week, and it went cuckoo viral, and now I think we were made the Lord Regents of Twitter or something, <a href=\"https:\/\/io9.gizmodo.com\/two-writers-did-a-hilarious-deconstruction-of-horror-mo-1797338834\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>so that happened<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>So, it took me many moons to get both of these tech problems sorted in good order, but sorted they are. I have a new computer (basically the same computer, an iMac that&#8217;s just four years newer) and turns out my web host was blocking my IP ha ha ha what fun.<\/p>\n<p>We will once again try to return to some semblance of normalcy.<\/p>\n<p>In other news:<\/p>\n<p>I hit 100,000 words on the current manuscript (<strong>Exeunt<\/strong>), and I did that in two months (!), and I think this book still has another 100,000 words to go (?!), so wish me a big screaming bushel of fucking luck. Also the book probably sucks, but that&#8217;s why Jesus invented &#8220;second drafts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>OH AND HEY LOOK WHAT&#8217;S OUT TODAY:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mdcu-comics.fr\/upload\/news\/news_illustre_1496007270_521.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mdcu-comics.fr\/upload\/news\/news_illustre_1496007270_521.jpg?resize=700%2C1050&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"700\" height=\"1050\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s got dinosaurs!
