Won&#8217;t you <a title=\"http:\/\/terribleminds.com\/ramble\/2012\/01\/27\/flash-fiction-challenge-the-present-tense\/\" href=\"http:\/\/terribleminds.com\/ramble\/2012\/01\/27\/flash-fiction-challenge-the-present-tense\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>check it out<\/strong><\/span><\/a>?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week I was all like, &#8220;Blah blah blah, here&#8217;s <a title=\"25-things-you-should-know-about-story-structure\/\" href=\"http:\/\/terribleminds.com\/ramble\/2012\/01\/31\/25-things-you-should-know-about-story-structure\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>25 things about story structure<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And in there I offered one particular structure for a story &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>A seven-act spread.<\/p>\n<p>There I wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Behold, a rough seven-act structure: Intro (duh) \u2013&gt; Problem or Attack  (duh) \u2013&gt; Initial Struggle (character first tussles with source of  conflict) \u2013&gt; Complications (conflict worsens, deepens, changes) \u2013&gt;  Failed Attempts (oops, that didn\u2019t work) \u2013&gt; Major Crisis (holy  goatfucker shitbomb, everything\u2019s gone pear-shaped) \u2013&gt; Climax and  Resolution (duh).<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230;and now I want to see those seven acts put into play.<\/p>\n<p>In a 1000-word example of flash fiction.<\/p>\n<p>From you.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, that&#8217;s right. I want you to take your 1000 words and orchestrate a full seven-act arc from <em>intro<\/em> all the way to the <em>climax and resolution<\/em>, not missing a step in the middle.<\/p>\n<p>You have, as always, one week.
