Now Available: 30 Days In The Word Mines
Hey, look.
A new writing book.
All original.
Nothing taken from the blog.
From the book description:
30 Days In The Word Mines takes you on a month-long journey of writing, offering pages filled with practical writing tips, motivational throat-punches, and ruminations on the craft of writing and art of storytelling. Whether you’re running with National Novel Writing Month or just want to hunker down and write to see just how far you can get, this book will help you every step of the way with a new tip, trick or thought every day of the month-long journey. From the mad mind behind terribleminds comes an original companion book to help you navigate the maze of writing every day. Good luck, and art harder.
Wanna check it out? It’s $2.99 at:
B&N.
Buy 30 Days In The Word Mines!
Or — or! — I’m offering it as part of my Gonzo Big Writing Bundle.
Twenty bucks gets you (now) eight books.
And that’s the deal.
Hope you check it out — this one’s a bit of an experiment for me, given that it’s a little more focused in terms of content, and again, is not material that originated at the blog. (The exception is the appendix, which features my Big 350 zero-fuckery writing plan.)
Enjoy!

Getting an error on the bundled version of the 30 day book, says “file type is not in Mobi or PDF. The others seem to be working fine.
October 30, 2014 @ 9:59 PM
oka nm, i unzipped, downloaded as pdf and sent via email.
October 30, 2014 @ 10:27 PM
The bundled version is a ZIP archive — you can’t open it?
October 30, 2014 @ 10:39 PM
Yeah, I figured it out, some were zipped and some were pdf and I just didn’t see the zip on those that were zipped. But thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Is that the pickaxe from Skyrim? I’m such a TES geek if it is. Yeah…
October 30, 2014 @ 11:44 PM
It looks (to me) darned close, anyway. But a pickaxe is a pickaxe, too.
October 30, 2014 @ 10:15 PM
Got it! Thanks!
October 30, 2014 @ 10:32 PM
Thanks Chuck. I’m off to devour it.

Woot! Mine!
October 30, 2014 @ 11:10 PM
This was an insta-buy for me! Thanks Chuck for all the scribblings! Your posts based around “writers write” and “finish your shit” are the motivation I needed to start writing again after so long! You gave me the kick needed ti get up off my ass (not literally) and write, instead of aspiring all this time. Still have those posts clipped to Evernote in case I need more asskicking!
October 30, 2014 @ 11:15 PM
I went for the Gonzo bundle even though I already have three of them–still a fantastic deal. Thanks, Chuck!

Why would you release this the DAY before NaNoWriMo? (okay, two days before)
*ahem*
I mean, congratulations on your publication.
October 31, 2014 @ 7:52 AM
Well, the hope is that folks can find it useful on this month’s NaNo journey. The book isn’t about prep — it’s meant to go with you day after day in the word mines.
October 30, 2014 @ 11:53 PM
I was worried about that, but it’s written diary-like so I am going to actually use it as my NaNo prep each day before I write. Chuck’s writing is paced so quickly that I think it will be a good jumpstart to the writing day.
October 31, 2014 @ 12:09 AM
Hey Chuck is this going to be available in the Australian Amazon because it’s not coming up and the U.S. site no longer will allow you to buy from their kindle store…thanks

Always with the motivational throat punches! Can I just once get a motivational shoulder rub?
October 31, 2014 @ 9:19 AM
I went through NaNo last year for the first time. I found your blog by searching for the terms, “I suck as a writer,” and found this http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2013/11/05/nanowrimo-dialogues-i-think-i-suck-and-im-not-a-real-writer/ .
It was such a great help to me. I also read 500 Ways to Write Harder. Thanks for the new advice at a timely time.

Hello. Is there another way to open the zipped books in the collection other than having to purchase WinZip? Thx.
October 31, 2014 @ 9:32 AM
Most operating systems now just let you dig right into the ZIP file. If worse comes to worse, I can send you the preferred e-book variant separately.
October 31, 2014 @ 9:45 AM
Yes, please. Boy, would I ever appreciate that. Thx.
October 31, 2014 @ 9:56 AM

I sent the email. Didn’t get any e-book variatns yet. Did I miss something? Thx.

I apologize, but see no email! I looked in spam but didn’t seem to find it?
October 31, 2014 @ 10:04 AM
I use 7-Zip – http://www.7-zip.org/
It’s free and works just like WinZip. 🙂
October 31, 2014 @ 10:07 AM
Got it. Thanks Chuck!

I look forward to digging into this. Thank you, Mr. Wendig. And, uh, you’re welcome?

Ah, what would I do without my favourite bearded enabler? Got it, now for a weekend of neglecting the house, family and, possibly, personal hygiene.
