I didn't start out that way. At first I avoided the film out of spite. I didn't think anything with that much hype could possibly be any good. I was wrong; I admit it. I saw it first in 2D. Quickly I needed to see it in 3D. Holy fuck! Simply amazing. I found myself strangely attracted to the wide-eyed, blue-skinned, Neytiri. Or as I like to refer to her as: "That Big Blue Bitch". I walked out of the movie wishing I was really part of it...and part of that world. Being so close to nature that you could literally fuck any animal with my hentai tentacle appendage. 5 minutes later I no longer felt this way and was settled back into reality. I agree with your assessment that this "syndrome" is bullshit. The movie, in my humble opinion, is one of the best I've ever seen. Number 6, in fact. (The Godfather Pt II; The Godfather; The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly; The Empire Strikes Back; Blazing Saddles; Avatar) Movies are supposed to suck you into their world and make you a part of them for a short while. Once it's done, though, it's done. Anyone that has some psychological issues over it needs to seek professional help. I loved Avatar more than any human probably should.

I really don't want to see it that badly. The previews were impressive, but not impressive enough to drive me into an OMGZORZ MUST SEE frenzy. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that the only Avatar I have any interest in seeing is The Last Airbender (yes, even though M. Night Shymaloogoo -- or however the fuck you spell his name -- is doing it). The moral of this post (if a post by Chuck can indeed be said to have any moral value whatsoever) reminds me fairly strongly of 2 the Ranting Gryphon's "Overboard" rant.
