Give 'em hell Chuck. I'm with ya right up to the no-pants-having behind the pulpit. I've been registered as an GDI my entire life. I was hoping that the Democrat Party would use the authority they gained by winning the elections. I wasn't expecting the total lack of cohesion.

I write letters to my congress critters and pick fights with my local officials every chance I get, just to remind them that there are some of us who keep an eye on things. I don't think it really does a lot to change things but I feel better for having done it

John:

Saw your post. Thought-provoking, to be sure --

People should go and read that. Will inspire discussion, I think.

Yeah, but what about the burbling and cooing and the no-pants-having?

Because, the pulpit feels good for alla that. Mmmm.

Getting the choir to sing is a perfectly sound use of the pulpit, sir.

I don't expect to change minds with my blog. I do expect that most readers haven't taken action, and so it's worth the call.

Let's be clear, I use this space largely to rant or make burbling noises or parade around without pants.

I think this is good for rallying people who already agree with you, but I'm not sure this is going to change many minds. You're preaching to the choir, here, yeah? To get them to sing?

You just said what I've been saying for years. The Democrats spend too much time being punching bags for GOP fucknuts. They need to hit back and keep hitting until they land a few punches on the elephant's junk.

And I love the GOP trick of claiming Afghanistan is "Obama's War" and trying to figure out ways to screw him over. These monkeys were dubya's cheerleaders in military escapades for six years, yet they have the balls to try and convince me that Obama is wrong in trying to clean up the messes they started.

The thing I particularly find funny is, the Republicans are arguing that we shouldn't have public healthcare reform because of "personal responsibility," debating that we should take accountability for our own health.

But taking accountability for our own success and education is evil? Come on.

The ones arguing against this are a lunatic fringe. Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove and Laura Bush all are vocally for what the President said.

But yeah. I don't disagree with you. I'm writing my representatives. I have a couple of times.

And Chuck Wendig loves you!

...

Oh, and if I can do some "directed action" recommendations, here:

First, let's all watch the President give his speech tonight. Support him. We supported Bush, we can damn sure support this guy.

Second, watching -- and giving -- speeches ain't the total of it. Write your politicians. Tell them to grow a pair. Tell them to stand up for you, not for corporate interests. Tell them not to back down against GOP lies. This is no longer a time for compromise.

Move your concerns to action.
