If you think you’re jaded there is a litmus test of sorts to gauge your overall jadedness. Just go to http://www.warrenellis.com and do an archive search for “Conan! What is best in life?” If you manage to cycle through more than 10 of the posts without going catatonic, then you can do a search for “Don’t Look” (How bad can it be right?).

Some time ago Ellis got a job where he was literally payed to “find sick stuff on the internet” and seemingly he set out to get employee of the month, and now probably has an honorary doctorate in that field. Gotta give the guy credit for going at it with gusto.

I supposed that the thing that bothers me about fetishism is that it makes an object of a person, an object of desire, with the emphasis on the “object”. They don’t want the girl, they want the girl-with-a-shaved-head or the robotgirl, or the girl-dressed-as-a-clown, or the girl-in-headphones.

And love and tenderness are subordinated to the object that makes us hard. It could be anyone in that squirrel suit/getting the haircut/wearing the phones/getting hypnotised/whatever.
